Maricor and Maricar

I was sent this link the other day to their great website. They are a pair of designers based in Sydney who use textured embroidery to create some amazing illustrations and typography that is used across the whole range of design.

There is nothing I like better than seeing some work by a great craftperson especially when it has a multi platform use. Below is a few examples of their work.

The first is some hand embroidered type for Esquire magazine. The idea was to create a winter sweater styled headline along with a dropcap.

The next is for a pop up book that was created to accompany the Kylie Minogue Les Folies Tour. Inspired by Venus, Aphrodite mythology to create their own version of the iconic wave along with  using her lyrics for inspiration.

You cannot beat Sesame Street for true childhood memories. Made in America but I remember being fascinated by the programme when I was younger and still have a soft spot for Big Bird, The Count, Cookie Monster and of course Bert and Ernie. The pictures below were created for an exhibition to celebrate the life of Jim Henson which was held at The Nucleus Gallery in New York.

They also accept private commissions. The one below is a family motto and as they go, is quite an excellent one!

and just a few exhibition pieces that they have produced in the last couple of years.
