Jubilympics Special Editions

Whilst I have been enjoying the spoof series about the olympics, I have been noticing the ammount of brands jumping on the bandwagon. There is going to be even more products coming out in the next few months to try and tie themsleves to the Jubilee and the Olympics. Now I can see why advertising companies think this is a good idea but I think that nowadays we are more brand aware than ever before and I think the majority of people just become quite cynical of these quick rebrands. Most of them are not even that clever and have just stuck a union jack flag on to their products which isn't really the idea when it comes to rebranding a product. But I did see the new limited edition Marmite jars that have been produced to mark the Diamond Jubilee and I think it's one of the few amusing ones.
It also happens to be the 110th anniversary of the brand as well. It was designed by Hornall Anderson which will initially just be available in Sainsburys but then rolled out across the country. Marmite haven't done a lot of limited editions as they have a strong enough product that remains largely unchanged since its inception.

Like I said, this is just the tip of the iceberg when you start to look around the supermarket at what other products are trying to encourage us to buy them to celebrate 2012.

The problem is that after a while you get tired of seeing the brands copying each other and the message gets too diluted that after a while you are not buying the product because its a limited edition but you are buying it, because you normally buy it anyway.
